Information about GroenLinks-PvdA in English

Who are we?

GroenLinks-PvdA is the major left-wing political party in Tilburg. Our politicians work hard towards a progressive, social and green Tilburg. Translated literally, our name means: GreenLeft-Labour Party. Our party is a merger of the Dutch GroenLinks (Greens) and Partij van de Arbeid (Labour Party). These two parties have combined forces to achieve more in politics.

What do we want?

Where others build walls, we build bridges to connect our neighbourhoods, our villages with Tilburg, and – most importantly – our people with each other.

Concretely, our plans are focussed on good and affordable homes, ensure that everyone can participate – in education, work and social life – and make our city more green and sustainable by planting trees, building parks and prioritising walking, cycling and public transport over cars.

If you want to read more about our ideas and plans, and what we have already achieved for Tilburg, read our election manifesto in English. NB: some groups of people without the Dutch nationality have the right to vote in the municipal elections

The municipal elections will take place on Wednesday the 18th of March. Importantly, you do not have to be a Dutch citizen to vote in the municipal elections. This is different than in the national elections. In order to be allowed to vote, you must:

  • Hold Dutch or EU nationality, or have lived in the Netherlands legally and without a break for 5 years.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Be registered in the personal records database (BRP) in Tilburg.

You can find more information about how, when and where you can vote on the website of the Municipality of Tilburg.
